Shaken Life = Bad Nutrition?

When you’re so busy that you barely have time to brush your teeth before leaving home, eating healthy can be quite a challenge. It’s much easier to grab the first snack or order fast food, or worse yet, to fall into stress eating and do a lot of damage to your health.

Fortunately, eating well doesn’t have to take up all your time. All you need to do is plan and foresee. Here are some tips to help you make healthy choices and include your healthy eating plan in your hectic life.

1. Always have healthy snacks on hand

It’s hard to say no to potatoes or cookies when the snack machine tempts you with its “easy, fast and cheap” craving. It’s easier to avoid temptation when you’re armed with healthy alternatives.

Solution: Take advantage of a free time on the weekend or at lunch time to go shopping for whole-wheat cookies (watch out for those that say they are and are not), nuts, dried fruits, dark chocolate without sugar, dried apples, bags of carrots or celery that come sliced and cut, etc… This way you can prepare your reserve for the whole week with healthy (and delicious!) snacks.

2. Look for alternatives to fast food

When you don’t have time to go to the grocery store and cook, dialing the number of the nearest pizzeria may sound like the ideal solution.

Solution: Research the phone number of a coffee shop that offers healthy options to go. Lately there have been many businesses that sell healthy dishes that are delivered directly to your office or home.

3. Freeze your own food

If you like to cook but know it takes a lot of time and energy, change the way you plan your meals. You know that when you get home after a long day at work, the last thing you’re going to do is cook.

Solution: Invest one or two hours of your Sunday and make several meals that you can keep in the freezer to eat during the week.

4. Make salads

We know you read this and you find it boring, but the truth is that salads are the best dish because they are easy and quick to prepare. You can put millions of things, from sunflower seeds, amaranth, almonds, peanuts, to boiled egg, chicken, tuna … in short, there are many options.
